Penguin Palace Challenge #28 -Sketch

Hello and welcome back crafty friends!

We LOVED seeing your sketch-inspired projects over the past month and want to thank you so much for participating in Challenge #27.

Now, onto Penguin Palace Challenge #28! This month we have a fun sketch that you can interpret many different ways. Don’t forget to link your projects featuring Penguin Palace stamps below for your chance to win a $25 gift card!

I always need birthday cards, especially more “masculine” ones, and I thought this design would work great with the Birthday Wishes stamp set. I started by repeatedly stamping the banner using blue dye ink on some lighter blue cardstock to create a tone-on-tone look. Then I cut the piece down to align with the proportions of the sketch. I also used my guillotine trimmer to cut a thin strip of glitter paper.

Next, I diecut two circles from white cardstock. On the smaller one, I stamped and Copic colored the little boy image from the Birthday Wishes stamp set. On the larger circle, I ink blended the edges with the same dye ink I used to stamp the banners. I adhered the two diecut circles together, and adhered all my pieces to the card. To finish it off, I stamped one of the sentiments and diecut it out with the coordinating dies, and added a few star sequins.

Penguin Palace Challenge #27 – Sea Moodboard

Now, onto Penguin Palace Challenge #27! I’m so excited to be sharing inspiration using this month’s moodboard and products from the new release! This month’s moodboard is a bit of mermaids meets mountains, inspired by the mountains of British Columbia, Canada — where Penguin Palace Stamps was created (& where I’m currently vacationing!).

I started by ink blending the Radiance Stencils 360°™ at 22.5° intervals in shades of blue and purple. I alternated using a heavy and light pressure each time and only blended 5 intervals. Then I fussy cut this out to form the peacock tail (don’t be afraid to use your stencils in creative ways!).

Next, I stamped the peacock body and wing from Beautiful Inside & Out in purple and blue due ink, respectively. I diecut the body out out using the coordinating die, and added a few extra diecuts behind for additional dimension.

Before adhering the tail and body to my card base, I ink blended some soft teal dye ink toward the bottom to “ground” my image. Then, I stamped a sentiment from the Unity and Friendship Quotes in the bottom righthand corner. And of course, to finish the card off I added a few sequins.

Penguin Palace Challenge #26 – Summer Moodboard

We LOVED seeing your sketch-inspired projects over the past month and want to thank you so much for participating in Challenge #25.

Now, onto Penguin Palace Challenge #26! I’m so excited to be sharing inspiration using this month’s summery colour palette! Don’t forget to link your projects featuring Penguin Palace stamps below for your chance to win a $25 gift card!

I wanted to make a fun, summery card so I couldn’t help but use the new Enjoy Your Summer digital stamp! After printing the image onto some cardstock, I Copic colored and fussy-cut it out. I also printed the “Floating by to say Hi!” sentiment onto some white cardstock and cut it down to 3.75″ x 5″ with the sentiment centered along the bottom. I ink-blended the panel with some sand-colored dye ink and added speckling with Copics in various shades of brown and beige.

Next, I blended a piece of 3.75″ x 5″ cardstock with Distress Oxide inks in colors inspired by this month’s palette (Blueprint Sketch, Uncharted Mariner, Peacock Feathers, Speckled Egg). I used one of the dies from the Desert Landscape Scene Builder dies and stencil set to create the “edge” of my ocean. I adhered the ocean panel down to my sand panel, and glued that onto an A2 card base. Finally, I adhered my stamped image to the center and added a few clear embellishments to finish off the card.

Penguin Palace Challenge #25 – Sketch

Now, onto Penguin Palace Challenge #25! I’m so excited to be sharing inspiration for another fun sketch challenge — remember, you can interpret these however you like; flip, rotate, be creative! Don’t forget to link your projects featuring Penguin Palace stamps below for your chance to win a $25 gift card!

For today’s card, I started by cutting a piece of Cotton Candy Heavyweight Premium Cardstock down to a little bit smaller the 4.25″ x 5.5″ and cut off the bottom 1/3 to create two pieces corresponding to the gray parts of the sketch. On the larger piece, I lightly ink blended using a slightly darker color of dye ink. Then, I used the confetti stamp from the Birthday Wishes stamp set and repeatedly stamped it over the background in a slightly darker color of dye ink to create a tone-on-tone look.

On the smaller piece of cardstock, I stamped and white heat-embossed a sentiment from the Birthday Wishes stamp set. I glued both pieces of cardstock onto a 4.25″ x 5.5″ card base. Next, I stamped and Copic colored one of the images from the Birthday Wishes stamp set, and cut it out with the coordinating die, adding a few extra diecuts behind for dimension. I adhered my image down to the card-base where the focal element is on the sketch, and finished the card off with some embellishments.

Penguin Palace Challenge #24 – Stenciling

Hello and welcome back crafty friends!

We LOVED seeing your spring color palette inspired projects over the past month and want to thank you so much for participating in Challenge #23.

Now, onto Penguin Palace Challenge #24! This month, our theme is stenciling — as long as it uses a stencil, it counts! Don’t forget to link your projects featuring Penguin Palace stamps below for your chance to win a $25 gift card.

For today’s card, I used a technique I’ve wanted to try for a while — watercolor stenciling! I taped down the Abstract Blossom Stencils 360° to a piece of watercolor paper and traced around the inside of each opening with my Karin markers — in rainbow order of course. Be careful not to be too heavy-handed as the ink can seep under the stencil (but that’s okay, it’s all part of the imperfect/loose look)! Once I had some color down, I removed the stencil and used clean water and a paint brush to blend from the center toward the edges. I added a little bit more ink with my markers as needed.

Next, I cut my card panel down and adhered it to a 5″ x 6.5″ card base. I white heat-embossed a sentiment from the So Blessed stamp set onto black cardstock, and cut it out with the coordinating Penguin Perfect cuts. I also die-cut a few extra and adhered them to the back of my sentiment for extra dimension. Finally, I adhered my sentiment to the center of the card and added some embellishments!
